The Time Calculator

You can put in two exact dates and times into this calculator, and it subtracts them. (Incidentally we couldn't think of a use for this at all until a site visitor called Jim Thompson contacted us and said it was handy for marine navigation. Wow!)

• When you put in the date use MM/DD/YYYY format. This means putting in the month before the day.
  For example the 15th of May 1976 would become 05/15/1976 (Use / between date numbers)
• When you put in the time it's easiest to use the 24-hour HH:MM:SS clock format.
  For example 23 minutes past 8 in the evening would become 20:23:00 (Use : between time numbers)
• Even if you aren't using seconds you must put in :00 at the end of the time.
• Don't put any spaces in.
